Check out below for a bio on Mike! Thank you so much Mike- we are so excited for your night!
I’m 47 years old, born in Blenheim New Zealand. In my earlier years I was a world Level track cyclist. I trained in the New Zealand army as a engineer and left to chase my dream of Olympic success but that was halted when I broke my back in 1995 paragliding. I moved to England mid 96 to try get back to top level cycling but could not. I worked as a skydiving instructor for a while until I set up my flying school in 1999, (funny really as I taught myself to fly years ago at the age of 17 in a microlight where I worked as a skydive instructor. My first flight was about 2 am and dare I say it probably well beyond the drink drive limit), thankfully things changed and I made it through those young teen age foolish times. In 2008 I met Colleen at the airfield where I had my school and maintenance operation, her son was having helicopter lessons there and the rest is history. 2009 I started racing motorcycles and had much success including podiums at the world famous Isle of Man road races. In 2013 I closed the school and both Colleen and I went to work for a small regional airline. In 2015 I made a career change again and came and trained in Canada to be a Ag pilot. 2 years later we moved here to live and started Farming, and Aerial application, (i was raised in a farming community in NZ). We now farm approx 1000 acres and are commercial beekeepers with 2 bee yards and a retail farm store. I fly virtually anything and was a qualified airworthiness inspector and test pilot in England and have built 7 kit planes and done many restorations. Flying of any type is in my blood and I have a thirst for adventure. Colleen is now starting her journey to becoming a pilot also. I love to share my love of aviation with others and promote safe, fun flying.
